Rodeo Parade Revived

It has been many years since the last Rodeo Parade. In its day was one of the most celebrated events in Merritt. With the help of three key volunteers the Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce is working at bringing it back. Rodeo committee volunteers, Virginia Aspinall, Jim Beckett and Brandi O'Flynn are committed to putting life back into this event. To date - the route has been mapped and approved, additional volunteers recruited and registration forms are out waiting for submissions. This year's parade may not be up to the same scale as the past but at least it is a start, says Chamber manager, Etelka Gillespie. Our Rodeo committee is very enthusiastic and ready to take on whatever comes their way, that is exciting, says Gillespie.

Merritt Art Walk 2015

Art Walk 2015 widens boundaries

The intent of Art Walk is to provide an opportunity to develop a partnership between local businesses and their customers, visitors, and Merritt and the Nicola Valley's creative community.  This is an opportunity for individual artists and artist associations to market and promote themselves in highly visible venues. This years event runs from July 1st to August 15, 2015. The additional two weeks accommodates the BC Ambassador candidates  that are in our community from August 10th to the 15th

The Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce is working with 17 businesses that will work with 23 artists to showcase their creations as well as showcase their business during the six week long event. This year we welcome 8 artists from Logan Lake.  We also continue to work with Williams Lake Art Walk hosting an exhibit at one of our local businesses. For the month of August we set up a Merritt exhibit in Williams Lake to showcase the Nicola Valley.

This inaugural event is brought to the community by the City of Merritt and the Chamber of Commerce.

Check the Chamber of Commerce website for photo’s of art walk exhibits and participants at this years event.
